Keep abreast of domestic policy developments on energy transition in Brazil, especially on offshore wind, hydrogen, biofuels and CCUS. Understand political debates on fossil fuel policy.
Understand Brazil’s international energy policy priorities, including its position in the IEA, IAEA, COP, G20, CEM and other relevant international bodies
Understand international energy policy in the UK and provide analysis on opportunities to advance priorities and enhance cooperation with Brazil under the UK-Brazil Green and Inclusive Growth Partnership, ICF Programmes and Embassy Business Plan
Write short, concise analytical reports explaining Brazilian policy developments to a UK audience, as well as colleagues across policy, programme and commercial teams in the Embassy
Support the Communications team in reviewing contents for social media and interviews.
Crosscutting role: coordinate with peers a by-monthly update of the Climate Nature and Energy core script, including on our International Climate Finance portfolio, its impacts and results
University degree in a related field (Economics, Energy, Climate and Environment Science, International Relations, Political Science, etc);
At least 2 years of working experience/research with the agendas covered by the role on: national/state governments, international organisations, agencies and/or NGO’s, or universities.
Strong understanding of the Brazilian political framework on federal level both Congress and on Executive, especially around the Ministries of Mines and Energy, Industry and Environment and Climate Change
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Portuguese.
Proven research and reporting skills.
Able to deal with multiple tasks and priorities.
